Truckmount blower oil change

Proper lubrication is critical for the operation and performance of any positive displacement blower or vacuum pump.  In this video we will demonstrate how to the change the oil in your Sutorbilt Legend / California series blower.
in this video we will demonstrate how to
change the oil
in a suitorbuilt legend blower models
in the legends series
use oil lubrication at the gear end of
the blower where the timing gears act as
slingers to lubricate the gear end
bearings
at the drive end the bearings are
lubricated with grease
so make sure to check out our related
video on greasing your blower
synthetic lubricants provide the best
performance for positive displacement
blowers
for suiter boat legend models the
manufacturer recommends using their
brand of lubricant which is known as
aeon pd this lubricant can be purchased
in quartz gallons pails or drums
if you decide to use a different brand
of blower oil you must make sure it is
premium grade and non-detergent with
rust
oxidation and foam inhibitors
the frequency of required oil changes is
determined by the oil temperature and
operating hours
for suiter built legend blowers using
the recommended aeon pd lubricants
the manufacturer recommends changing
your oil at least every 1500 operating
hours
refer to your blower's manual for more
specific information
in this demonstration we will be
changing the oil in a cedar built legend
5h model although this procedure will be
the same on any legend series blower
recommended tools include a quarter inch
allen wrench
to remove the oil plug an adjustable
wrench to remove the breather
a funnel and your new oil let's get
started
so you start with a quarter inch allen
wrench
and you remove the plug from the bottom
the drain plug
you allow all the oil to drain while the
oil is draining you can go ahead and
remove
your breather from the top of the blower
sometimes the paint gets a little sticky
you gotta give it a little love a little
extra
a little extra attention there sometimes
you might even need a bigger wrench
there we go we got it loose so you let
it drain
until it's a very slow drip
while you're draining you can uh go
ahead and clean your plug off
reapply your thread type if you're so
inclined to use it
or your pipe dope whatever you want to
use other than that you're just waiting
all right so when your oil is finished
draining you reinstall your plug
snug it up real good
wipe off any excess
this machine does not have a sight glass
as you'll notice
so what we're going to do is we're going
to pull this lowest plug here
this paint is giving us some trouble
today
pull the plug the rest of the way out
install your funnel in the drain tube
or in the breathing hole
and then you're going to pour oil in
until you start getting oil coming out
of the cycle of the the hole there at
the bottom
and when the oil starts coming out you
replug it
remove your funnel set it aside
wipe off the excess around the funnel
reinstall your breather
and tighten your plug back up
all right wipe off any excess oil
and your blower's ready for service
